Privacy policy

Effective October 15, 2026. Also published at properorigin.com/privacy-policy, where you can switch off advertising sharing for your browser.

Who we are

Proper Origin is a brand of SpotieOtie LLC, based in Houston, Texas (“Proper Origin,” “we,” “us”). We sell dietary supplements directly to customers in the United States through properorigin.com and our secure checkout at checkout.properorigin.com.

If you have a question about this policy or your information, email us at support@properorigin.com. We answer every message ourselves. If our reply doesn’t appear, please check your spam folder.

What we collect

Information you give us

When you place an order, start a subscription, create an account or contact us, you may give us your name, email address, phone number, shipping and billing address, order details and the messages you send us.

Payments are handled by Shopify and its payment partners, such as Shop Pay, PayPal and Apple Pay. We never see or store your full card number.

Information collected automatically

When you use our site, cookies and similar technologies collect technical and usage data. This includes your IP address and the approximate location it suggests, your device, browser and operating system, the pages you view, the links and buttons you click, the products you view or add to your cart, the page that sent you to us, and the date and time of your visit. Some of it is collected by the tools listed below and linked to online identifiers such as cookie IDs.

Health information

We don’t ask for health information, and you never need to share any to shop with us. If you choose to tell us something about your health, for example when asking whether a product suits you or reporting how a product agreed with you, we use it only to answer you and handle it with care.

Cookies and tracking technologies

We use cookies, pixels and similar tools, small pieces of code and data that let a site and its partners recognize your browser and measure activity. We use them to run the store, understand how the site is used, and measure and target our advertising.

Meta Pixel (Meta Platforms, Inc.)

Code from Meta, the company behind Facebook and Instagram, that records the pages you view and the actions you take, such as viewing a product, adding to your cart, starting checkout and completing a purchase, and links them to your Meta advertising identifiers. Our checkout also sends these purchase events to Meta directly from Shopify’s servers. Meta uses this data to measure our ads, build audiences and show you ads on and off its platforms. This is the sharing you can switch off as described below. Learn more in Meta’s Privacy Policy.

Microsoft Clarity (Microsoft Corporation)

Helps us see how visitors use our pages, such as where people click and how far they scroll, through heatmaps and session replays, so we can find what’s confusing and fix it. Text you type into forms is masked. See the Microsoft Privacy Statement.

Shopify (Shopify Inc.)

Powers our cart, checkout, payments, customer accounts and order emails, and keeps your cart working as you move between pages. See Shopify’s Privacy Policy.

Appstle Subscriptions

Manages Subscribe & Save orders and the page where you skip, reschedule or cancel a subscription.

How we use your information

  • To process, ship and support your orders and subscriptions.
  • To answer your questions and look after you if something goes wrong.
  • To operate, secure and improve the website, and to prevent fraud.
  • To measure how our advertising performs and to show you relevant ads on platforms such as Facebook and Instagram.
  • To send you order and shipping updates and, if you opt in, marketing email you can unsubscribe from at any time.
  • To comply with our legal obligations and enforce our terms.

How we share your information

We do not sell your information for money. We do share the automatically collected data described above with advertising partners, mainly Meta, so they can measure and target advertising. Under California law and the privacy laws of several other states, this kind of sharing for cross-context behavioral advertising can count as a “sale” or “share” of personal information even though no money changes hands. You can switch it off at any time in the next section.

We also share information with the service providers who run the store for us, only as much as they need to do their job: Shopify and our payment processors, our fulfillment partner who packs and ships your order, Appstle for subscriptions, and our email and analytics tools. We may also share information when the law requires it, to protect our rights or the safety of others, or as part of a sale or reorganization of our business.

Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information

Use the switch on our website’s privacy page to stop us sharing your information with advertising platforms. It takes effect right away, you don’t need an account, and you don’t have to give a reason.

If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we treat it as an opt-out automatically, and the advertising pixel never loads on our site. You don’t need to do anything else, and we won’t override it. GPC is built into some browsers and available as an extension for others.

Our checkout runs on Shopify, which honors Global Privacy Control too. If you don’t use GPC, you can also opt out on our checkout’s opt-out page, or simply email us at support@properorigin.com and we’ll do it for you.

Your other choices and rights

  • Browser controls. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Some parts of the site, like your cart, may not work as well if you do.
  • Meta ad settings. You can manage how Meta uses your data for ads in your Facebook and Instagram ad preferences.
  • Marketing email. Every marketing email has an unsubscribe link. Order, shipping and support emails are not marketing, so you’ll still get those.
  • State privacy rights. Depending on where you live, you may have the right to know what personal information we hold about you, to get a copy of it, to correct it, to delete it, and to opt out of targeted advertising. To make a request, email us at support@properorigin.com. We’ll confirm it’s really you before acting, reply within 45 days, and never treat you differently for using these rights. You can also ask someone you authorize to make a request for you. If we turn down a request, you can ask us to reconsider by replying to our answer.

Security and retention

We use reasonable safeguards to protect your information, and our checkout and payments run on Shopify’s secure, encrypted platform. No system is perfect, so we can’t promise absolute security, but we take it seriously.

We keep personal information only as long as we need it for the purposes in this policy or as the law requires. For example, we keep order records for tax and accounting purposes.

Children

Our products and website are intended for adults 18 and over. They are not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has given us information, email us and we’ll delete it.

Changes and how to reach us

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we’ll post the new version on this page and change the date at the top. If you have any question about your privacy or want to use any of your rights, email us at support@properorigin.com.
